1-Day Handcuff Application Course
Handcuff Application Course
Course Overview
This Handcuff Application Course is designed to provide staff working in secure environments – including mental health services, secure transport, and security roles – with the essential knowledge and practical understanding required for the safe, lawful, and ethical use of handcuffs and other restraint equipment.
The course is grounded in the legal framework of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, with a strong emphasis on risk assessment, proportionality, duty of care, and best practices in managing high-risk and potentially hazardous situations involving restraint.
Participants will learn to make informed, legally defensible decisions in high-pressure environments while ensuring the dignity and safety of all involved – staff, service users, and the general public.
